The conversion to Islam by Sean Ali Stone - the son of Oliver Stone, the renowned Oscar-winning US director - has aroused angry reactions in the western media.
Born to a Jewish father and Christian mother, Sean Stone converted to Islam in a ceremony in the Central Iranian city of Isfahan on February 14.
Sean Stone became a Shiite Muslim and chose the Muslim name of Ali as announced at the ceremony held in the Iranian historical city of Isfahan.
The AFP tried to portray the move as a superficial move by highlighting and maneuvering on Ali Stone's remarks who said "the conversion to Islam is not abandoning Christianity or Judaism, which I was born with".
Stone's words highlight his true understanding of Islam, as Muslims all throughout the world feel respect for all divine religions and do not reject Judaism or Christianity. Actually Muslims believe that Islam is the latest, the last and the most complete religion in the line of the divine faiths and religions bestowed to man by the Almighty God.
The 27-year-old filmmaker is a graduate of history from Princeton University and has collaborated on many of his father's projects.
The Big Hollywood website, in an article titled "The Horrors of Hollywood Parenting", tried to portray Ali Stone's conversion to Islam as a negative parental effect on the younger generation's attitude.
